Time to Face Facts, TPUSA is Using Your Kids for Profit

This post will not go over well and the content will be a disappointment to many. The questions about the effectiveness of Turning Point USA are piling up as time goes on, but most have given the Republican organization the benefit of the doubt. After all, its talking head, Charlie Kirk, is on Fox News constantly complaining about liberal policies so the organization must be okay.

We have been concerned about the lack of traditional values espoused by TPUSA as noted here. Now we have proof TPUSA is not staying abreast about what is going on in Arizona, despite the headquarters being right smack dab in the middle of the Grand Canyon State. Many question where has TPUSA been during conflicts with school districts, gender theory in schools, the current audit in Arizona, and the many freedom issues which have arisen under Governor Doug Ducey (sometimes R) during Covid. Charlie Kirk grumbles and raises a lot of money while doing so, but as TPUSA gets air time our freedoms decrease and our public schools worsen. Has anyone noticed as more and more Republican or conservative strategists and lobbyists have come on the scene our schools have declined and we lost our freedoms? Is this purposeful so those groups can continue the flow of money and power?

How is that happening? We are being played by the Republican Party and the many groups which raise money off frustrated voters, and now we have video proof. This past Arizona Legislature was not for the fainthearted. We likely have never seen so many games played between Republicans, often bickering like kids. Meanwhile, public school curriculum issues were hanging in the balance. Arizonans had to wait until the end of June for the legislators to do something positive for their constituents, and we use the word positive loosely. Often excellent bills are not heard because of internal strife or a lobbyist has not given his or her okay. Lobbyists are often instrumental in a politician’s campaign so the politician lives and breathes according to the lobbyist’s wishes. Note to Republican legislators: Quit being lazy and read and learn the bills–you represent the Constitution and your district not lobbyists.

As previously noted, Republicans in the Arizona Legislature hurt themselves and each other twisting and turning to pat each others’ backs as they told us Critical Race Theory was banned in Arizona. We reported otherwise as we explained gender ideology, sex ed, and CRT are embedded in Social Emotional Learning which was signed into law by Governor Ducey and his Republican friends.

What was Charlie Kirk doing during these legislative wars and television appearances? Based on a talk he gave at Dream City Church in July, 2021, not much except media appearances. But Kirk told the audience otherwise. Of course he chose to focus on Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) as it has garnered national attention in the last 18 months.

Anyone who has truly followed the sex ed, gender curriculum, and race theory in Arizona knows Chandler Unified has been the epicenter for approaching two years now. CUSD was lucky enough to be featured on Tucker Carlson near the end of this video. At the 7:54 mark of the video Carlson mentions the over $400,000 the district spent on Deep Equity. Kirk must have been counting his money during that episode.

The Chandler School Board meeting drew much attention on June 9, 2021. Even without social distancing, there would have been an overflow crowd. This has happened before, especially when one of the board members brings Planned Parenthood and its allies to the meeting so they can dominate public comment and outnumber the many concerned parents. But Charlie Kirk thinks the crowds were because of him. At that same board meeting, a community member who disagrees with the board’s equity curriculum was arrested outside of the building for talking. Has Charlie Kirk done a thing to help? No, Kirk spoke during public comment, exited, and then used his heroic appearance at the district meeting as material for his radio show. If TPUSA cared about defending the Constitution they could have jumped in to financially help with the community member’s legal defense. By the way, Chandler Unified WAS prepared for the large crowd. They had the police ready and waiting for certain community members. Kirk really doesn’t know how this all works.

Back to the new Arizona law that banned race theory but didn’t ban race theory, TPUSA didn’t get that memo. Pay attention to Kirk’s reference to Arizona House Representative Jake Hoffman, we will pick that up later.

“We identified a problem here in May.” No, Charlie Kirk, problems were identified long ago by parents. Where were you when community members were doxxed for speaking during public comment at school board meetings? Where was TPUSA when conservative parents’ jobs were threatened by those who support sex ed, race theory, and gender ideology in schools?

Things went downhill after Kirk’s comments. Someone in the audience who has served on a school board knew exactly what happened at the Arizona Capitol. During a question and answer session, she got up and calmly explained that Social Emotional Learning was signed into law and that is where Critical Race Theory is hidden. Ironically the microphone had some problems during her testimony, but listen carefully to hear the main points she conveyed.

Likely many in the audience appreciated the woman’s explanation of Social Emotional Learning, but not everyone did. Within a short time after that July event, the woman was contacted by a TPUSA representative scolding her for correcting Charlie Kirk. In addition, Jake Hoffman, former TPUSA employee, was instrumental in passing the bill banning CRT and it’s important he get credit.

See how it goes? Arrive late to the game, pretend like you’re current on issues, mislead the audience, and take credit for something that didn’t really happen. That pretty much sums up Turning Point. Meanwhile the media appearances and donations keep flooding in to keep up the facade.

Is it possible the Arizona Republican Party and Turning Point USA actually prefer having liberal, divisive Lindsay Love on Chandler Unified’s Governing Board? It gives them an enemy, someone to rile up the donors. For TPUSA, money doesn’t grow on trees, but on liberals. People, the Constitution was not written with the intent of central leadership. Money and power corrupt and take the focus off the task at hand. Demand customer service from your representatives, no middle man is needed. But first you must get off the couch.

If we are going to have any chance of fending off the tyranny of the left, we (conservatives) must join forces on a multi-front war from sea to shining sea. In order to do that, we need incredible resources to create and sustain a vast organizational structure that can inspire, educate and activate conservatives everywhere. That is precisely what TPUSA is doing – with arguably as much (if not more) success than any other conservative organization has to date.

I have toured the TPUSA headquarters and spoken at length with upper management regarding their elaborate strategy to help save this country. Given your stated similar desires, I find it curious that you chose to spend time criticizing a successful organization on the right. If you have the ingenuity and the resources to do it better – then you should do that. If not, then how about focusing on the enemies of freedom and liberty on the left, rather than “eating your own?”

We have also toured the TPUSA facility. They are good at raising money and opening chapters. Other than that, they are late to all the issues.
Ask TPUSA if they will take a stance against abortion. Ask TPUSA why yoga sessions are important at their youth summits in Florida. Ask students who have been associated with TPUSA about the sex parties.
Their elaborate strategy hasn’t done a thing; we are worse off in Arizona since they arrived. If you can point to one specific thing TPUSA has done to improve Arizona since opening the elaborate headquarters, please let us know.
      Thank you for reading.
