Cave Creek, AZ Schools Partnering with Planned Parenthood for Grades 4-8

Here we go again.  Another school district is about to vote on a controversial sex ed program (they call it “Human Growth and Development” or something fancy so parents don’t catch on).

Right now Planned Parenthood is suffering from a plethora of negative media coverage due to their selling of baby body parts, support for abortion until full-term, and the release this weekend of “Unplanned”.  The Pink walls are talking and because of this, the money-grabbing, top-heavy administrators are having to find an alternate way to worm into schools.  This time it’s through the LGBTQXYZ agenda.  Gay and transgender education are being pushed as a necessary curriculum for little kids–it has virtually wiped Common Core off the educational headlines.  Maybe that was intentional, to create another crisis so the community is distracted and Common Core can fester.

Whatever the reason, Cave Creek School District north of Phoenix feels it’s necessary to take precious school time to teach their precious students about oral sex and anal sex.  The problem is the new curriculum they are going to vote on in April has been developed for children as young as fourth grade!  Not only is this not “age-appropriate”, it violates Arizona State Standards.

The school district has been notified their pending actions are illegal.  No matter, taking direction from Planned Parenthood and its sidekick Advocates for Youth is more important than any standing law.  Just ask Arizona’s new Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kathy Hoffman.

It’s interesting that anyone who does not believe marriage between a man and a woman is normal is painted as “homophobic” by Cave Creek schools.

What if a student believes marriage between the same sex is normal, does the school district label them as having “heterophobia”?  Why the name-calling Cave Creek Schools?  Do you allow that in your classrooms?  And why the slap at students being raised with Christian values?  Isn’t your district inclusive?

Elementary and middle school kids are still kids.  Why these vulgar lessons?

Unfortunately Cave Creek’s new curriculum does not share with the students the physical dangers of anal intercourse or the immense pressure students are under to have oral sex when their instructors teach it as okay.

Here are the statutes Cave Creek Schools will be breaking:

What to do?

  • Call Cave Creek Schools and tell them this curriculum is not age-appropriate or legal.  Remind them Planned Parenthood isn’t who the district should associate with. 480-575-2000
  • Email all the Cave Creek Board members and ask them to VOTE NO on April 8, 2019:

    Ms. Hill, President– khill@ccusd93.org

    Mr. Rich, Vice-President– jrich@ccusd93.org

    Mr. Brown– sbrown@ccusd93.org

    Ms. Busbee– jbusbee@ccusd93.org

    Ms. Hatcher– bhatcher@ccusd93.org

  • Attend the school board meeting at 6PM (arrive late if you need, it’s hard to get there quickly after work) April 8, 2019,  33016 N. 60th St.  Cave Creek, AZ  85266.  Fill out a Request to Speak card;  it will only take a few seconds at the microphone to encourage the Governing Board to VOTE NO.

Thank you and we will update as the situation unfolds.

    Dear Peggy,
While reading your blog, I can understand how it can seem scary to see all these changes happening within our youth culture and I can sympathize with all your disagreements. We all want what is best. I’m sure that the phrase, “well, things were different in my day!” has come into your mind on a quite a few occasions. With this, it’s important to remember that times have changed (no matter how hard we try to deny and change it) and children are living in a much different world than what any previous generation has had to endure. They have access to technology and media that can expose them to anything, anyone at anytime regardless of any diligent efforts that parents, teachers or even law enforcement make – it’s their realty. What can be changed is the evolution of tools and education we arm our kids with so they can better navigate these issues, such as an updated human growth and development course. It is important to remember the distinction between education and promotion, one is not causation or correlation to another. Education does not promote. Educating someone on a pedophile does not promote pedophilia (just an example). It is called human growth and development because we as humans grow certain body parts at distinct ages that can be confusing. We develop into stages (including sexually) that reflect those body changes and in order to reduce confusion, shame, and embarrassment we educate our kids on those stages. When we try to shelter our children from these inevitable topics, we are projecting that those normal and natural developments are fundamentally “wrong” and this is a main cause of deviation in youth. Although you have the right to feel, think and speak as you’d like, I’d strongly recommend that you take some time to personally reflect on why you hold such rigid standards towards these topics of sex, homosexuality and the changes in education that are necessary. Maybe you will find the same attitudes of shame were present in your parents which caused you to feel shameful for the same things that we (society) are trying to build tolerance for. Religion evolved and even evolved into accepting homosexuals despite an ancient text stating otherwise, I’m sure you can too.

A couple things. If society and children were safer and better off today, we would agree with you that sexualizing children is a good thing.

Second, those who believe in Judeo-Christian values know that God does not change; He does not reflect culture. Because some pastors or rabbis choose to go with the culture does not make it right. They are turning their backs on the holy teachings they claim to believe in and misleading their members in the process. They will have to answer on their last day when God asks them what they did for the children in their communities.

      Thanks for reading.

That label on this slide says 6th Grade.

Would you rather have, young adults receiving The WRONG information, no information or just not understanding? What if this information keeps them from being abused? What if this information leads them to TELL on an abuser?

Sex education is not just about “all the stuff you can do”. It’s about understanding your body, boundaries and hopefully arming you with enough information to be more informed. Sex education is more about respecting your body and having others respect it. It’s about teaching you to make the best choices so you don’t end up sexually active, pregnant or with STI’s. That only happens when adults- level with you.

Furthermore, please don’t go there with “hederophobia”- Do you even know what children face who do identify as LBGTQ? Bullying, physical violence, homelessness, suicide, and a whole host of trauma. Teaching children to have respect for all is something that we must do. Discrimination is rampant. Love is in short supply. Anything we can do to be kind to one another SHOULD BE TAUGHT.

Unfortunately Cave Creek Unified Schools has removed some of the science that was in the original sex ed curriculum, so children will now receive the WRONG information. Why did they do this?
The curriculum is planned for as early as 4th grade. Yes, they will add more each grade level. The goal is to get this curriculum down to Kindergarten. This is how they start.
We can discuss heterophobia if you can label others as homophobic. As far as the LGBTQ bullying, please ask Cave Creek Schools the date, time, location, and situation (student names aren’t needed) when these children are being bullied. We think the media would have reported a recurring problem if there is one.
Please listen to Monica Cline, this woman used to teach Comprehensive Sex Ed. It’s time we give the students more credit.

    Peggy,
I am getting some conflicting information regarding this issue. Is there really a vote scheduled on altering the curriculum on April 8, 2019? A few lines above that it also says April 8, 2018. Also, the program you are describing is an Opt-in according to the school district which is also according to the law in Arizona. The school district also says that they are teaching the oral and anal sex through the lens of abstinence as in hey, kids that is still sex and you can get diseases from participating. Just trying to get all the facts.

Thank you, it is 2019 now and we have corrected it.

Yes, the curriculum is opt-in per Arizona law. How many parents actually review the curriculum before they sign the permission slip? It is difficult to review a curriculum when it’s not posted, and Cara Herkamp, the Curriculum Director, holds the keys. If it was a safe curriculum Ms. Herkamp would be proud to share it.

Because districts are changing the name of “Sex Ed” to Human Growth and Development, parents feel good about it. They don’t realize the dangers lurking, including the fact that Planned Parenthood and Advocates for Youth are now partners with Cave Creek Schools.

Oral and anal sex is not age-appropriate for 4th-8th grade, nor necessary. Maybe if Cave Creek Schools focused on teaching necessary subjects and critical thinking instead of obscenity, there may not be so many kids from that district in charter schools.

      Thanks for reading!

I would add that it’s not really presented as opt-in, but more that opt-out is available.

PLEASE Do not allow Advocates for Youth “curriculum ” into your schools. We have had it taught here in San Diego for 3 years and the suggested links take kids within a few clicks to hard core porn. Parents check out every lesson and every suggested website like Amaze.org, Scarleteen and Sex.Etc. You will be mortified as the content is R at best and leads to X quickly. One San Diego student describes the sexxx ed lessons as traumatizing…especially the role play.
lessons. Another 6th grade boy informed his female classmate that, The girls are supposed to have sex with the boys because the teacher ha de out condoms.”
